Organiser Caroline Strachan said: “I think it was the most successful so far, the weather was perfect.
“I think Reggie N’ Bollie were absolutely amazing to kick-start the event, they hit just the right tone for a family event, I was really really pleased with them.
After warming up the crowds, it was the turn of Ben Haenow to remind the crowds why he was the X-Factor winner and is now a number one artist, before “Sax” sensation Fleur East, the X-Factor runner-up, shone on the stage in her gold ensemble and stepped it up with some ‘Uptown Funk’!
Caroline said: “It was a very good line up for what we wanted – a fun, family day out in perfect weather conditions.”
This year’s headliner Jess Glynne – the second British female solo artist to have five number one singles including ‘Hold my Hand’, ‘Don’t be so hard on yourself’ and who featured on Tinie Tempah’s ‘Not Letting Go’, laughed her way onto the stage and kept the crowd in a happy mood throughout her set.
Caroline said: “We’ve had a lot of feedback from the acts themselves when we took them back to the airport, they want to come back to Jersey. They like playing at more intimate venues which Howard Davis Park is. We are more a boutique event and the park is stunning for that.”
She said it’s too early to say who’ll be amongst next year’s Big Gig line-up but she’s got some “legends” in mind already for the first night, although she says she’s keeping them all under wraps for now!
