DFDS sailings for November and December will be published on Tuesday, according to the Chamber of Commerce, which has lobbied for their release following concerns from members.
The business group said it had worked closely with the Danish ferry operator’s senior managers in Jersey and Copenhagen over the past weeks “to impress on them the importance of these schedule releases as soon as possible”.
Currently, only sailings until 2 November can be booked.
The release of timetables and the ability to book for the rest of the year will be welcome news not only to Jersey residents wanting to travel but also to the hospitality industry, with many businesses already adversely affected by delays to DFDS’s spring and summer timetable earlier in the year.
The operator was named as the Jersey’s preferred ferry operator by the Government last December and it could only publish a partial timetable in January. It began sailings in March, with services to France initially disrupted by a technical problem with one of its fast ferries, Tarifa Jet.
The lift on its fast ferry to the UK, Levante Jet, also broke, particularly affecting passengers with reduced mobility.
Delays in being able to book and the fact that more French visitors have chosen Guernsey over Jersey has had a noticeably negative impact on visitor numbers this year.
The latest monthly statistics released by Visit Jersey this week reveal that an estimated 51,900 visits were made in June, down 17,100 compared with June last year.
The grant-funded marketing body said that the 16% year-to-date decline had been driven by drops in April, May and June, while January to March visits remained flat year-on-year. The overall fall was primarily due to 23,100 fewer sea visitors year-to-date.
In June, 94,700 passengers departed Jersey, a 13,200 decline from the previous year.
In the first six months of this year, there were an estimated 765,500 visitor bed nights in Jersey, 118,200 fewer than in 2024, representing a 13% fall.
With regard to future DFDS timetables, Chamber added that schedules to October 2026 will be released next month.
“We understand some of these delays involve finalising timings with the various port authorities,” it said.
