If it gets the go-ahead the old NatWest Bank in Charing Cross, near the bottom of the Railway Walk, will become an Indian Restaurant.
The single-storey building, a former Market Hall that opened in 1826 and was later converted into a bank, is Grade 4 listed which prevents alterations to the exterior.
It has been empty ever since NatWest closed its branch due to a lack of demand for bank services in the area.
The inside isn’t listed and plans have been put in to include a carefully designed kitchen extraction system so that neighbours won’t have to put up with spicy smells and noise coming from the restaurant which will have similar opening times to other restaurants nearby.
