With just over a week to go until the run, the team has almost reached their £1,000 fundraising goal for the Jersey Heart Support Group.

Angela Hall, a nurse consultant in the cardiology department, explained that the two running teams are made up of doctors, nurses and physiologists – as well as her 15-year-old son Ryan.

The teams will be running the Jersey Marathon Relay Race on Sunday 1 October.

In this race, the 26-mile marathon distance is split between five runners. Some segments are more difficult with longer hills, according to Angela.

The nurse consultant said the Jersey Heart Support Group – which the runners are raising money to fund – is “our local committee that supports patients with cardiac disease in Jersey.”

She explained: “They offer lots of different things, they help support patients primarily, they offer financial support.

“They’re a contact for people and they’re also a support for staff within Cardiology.”

Angela added that the two teams are made of runners of mixed ability.

Those with less experience will take on the easier segments, whilst the “really fit” keen runners have been designated the more difficult relay sections  – with one other runner single-handedly tackling two segments!
