A care assistant accused of slapping a 96-year-old woman with dementia in the face has had her case sent to the Royal Court.
Dora Vieira (43), who worked at Lakeside Manor care home, appeared in the Magistrate’s Court on Friday morning charged with one count of common assault for the alleged attack.
Assistant Magistrate Adam Clarke, presiding, deemed the case too serious for the Magistrate’s Court, and informed Ms Vieira that her case would be referred to the Royal Court.
She is now due appear in the Royal Court on 31 October.

Ms Vieira was represented by Advocate Heidi Heath and Advocate Katie Ridley appeared for the prosecution.
