Over the next three years, Haute Vallée, Grainville, Les Quennevais, Hautlieu and Victoria College will now all have their meals prepared by Caring Cooks.

If successful, the charity will continue prepping breakfast, break and lunchtime dishes for a further two years.

The charity will be taking over from Capsicum Catering, which has provided food at each of the schools for the past 10 years.

Four catering outlets expressed interest, and two submitted formal applications to take on the job.

The news comes after the charity was last year chosen to deliver ‘Flourish’ – a £200,000 two-year pilot scheme to deliver hot meals into two local primary schools.

Sarah Copp, the islander behind the popular former ‘Chugging Pig’ food van, was chosen as Head Chef.

During lockdown, Caring Cooks then turned its attention to providing nutritious food to vulnerable people by expanding its weekly meal service.

Up to 300 meals were cooked every day, and then delivered to islanders who were sick, isolating, in financial crisis or facing other challenges.
