Islanders are invited to find out more about how Jersey’s waters are kept safe from threat at an open day hosted by Jersey Coastguard next month.

The event will take place on Sunday 12 October from 11:00 to 14:00 at the Maritime Operations Centre, which is based in Maritime House near West Quay in St Helier.

Attendees are encouraged to ask questions about sea safety and career opportunities.

There will also be the chance to see first-hand how search and rescue partners work in collaboration with Jersey Coastguard to protect the island’s coastlines.

Philip Le Neveu, Jersey Coastguard and St Helier Vessel Traffic Service Manager, said: “We’re delighted to welcome the community into our Operations Centre.

“The open day is a great way for people to meet the team, see the technology we use, and learn more about the important role Jersey Coastguard plays in keeping our waters safe.

“We hope to inspire the next generation of maritime professionals and share some essential sea safety tips along the way.”

All ages are welcome to attend, and there is no need to book in advance.
