The container will be installed to the north of the Line Up café, where an RNLI lifeguard cabin used to stand.

It will be placed on an existing hardstanding area where a mobile structure housing a surf school used to be, which had had a permit to operate.

Nigel Oxenden-Wray, who put forward the application on behalf of the Line Up, previously explained that he was passionate about seeing “kids taught properly – not only how to surf but also the etiquette and rules of respect that keep everyone safe.”

“I want to provide a decent service to locals and visitors alike to a high standard, so that customers have the knowledge that they are dealing with experts in their field,” he said.

The application was heard by the Planning Committee this morning, with all members voting in favour.
