If approved, the course would be created on Grand Beauregard, where permission was granted for a similar project more than 20 years ago.

The nine course will consist of one par five hole, five par fours and three par threes with the longest 508 yards.

Sark Developments is behind the scheme on the west of the island.

Residents can make comments about the plans to the Development & Control Committee until Thursday 7 March.

The idea of a golf course in the island has a long history.

Even in 1967, the Jellicoe Report argued that one could help protect the future of tourism in Sark.

Alderney has a nine-hole course.

Last year, Sark Sports Club organised the Sark Open over nine par three holes of around 120 yards each to raise money for two charities.

It comes as the island looks set to undergo a major regeneration – estate agents have recently been called in as the Barclay family prepares to sell off an estate of more than 100 properties on the island, and a property company with the island’s Seigneur as one of the Directors is hoping to buy them up, with visions of a “utopia”.

The Prince’s Foundation set up by the now-King Charles III also ran a future-focused ‘visioning exercise’ with residents last year, and it may even soon get its own emoji.
