Headmaster Alun Watkins told parents and guardians last night that the school was “working closely” with contact tracing and infection control teams to protect the school community.
“A number of boys in these year groups have been identified as direct contacts and these boys are currently in isolation and working from home, accessing our online learning provision,” Mr Watkins said.
His e-mail outlined that the school identifies a direct contact as students who have been closer than two metres of the individual who tested positive for 15 minutes or more during their contagious stage.
Mr Watkins added that, whilst he understands “this must be an unsettling and challenging time for our whole school community”, boys who are not infected or deemed direct contacts are expected to be in school as normal.
