Hilary Jeune has topped the poll in the St John, St Lawrence and Trinity district – where Economic Development Minister Kirsten Morel has retained his seat.
Deputy Morel entered the election as one of the island’s most prominent politicians but his role in the highly scrutinised ferry procurement process and the subsequent DFDS controversy ensured he faced a challenging political backdrop.
He indicated at the hustings that he was unlikely to seek “a big ministerial role”, but said he was “happy to be an assistant minister for the right government”.
Value Jersey endorser Phil Romeril has also secured a seat in the St John, St Lawrence and Trinity constituency.
Peter McLinton – known as “Peter Mac” – missed out on a seat by over 800 votes.
