District Deputy Scott Wickenden says that it’s time for the department to start taking the issue seriously and come up with some real ideas to sort it out.
His comments come after a leaked report from TTS revealed that they had come up with a range of options – including sticking astroturf to the side of the incinerator, planting bigger trees and wrapping it in a massive vinyl poster – but that none of the options would work.
Instead the department’s report concluded that they should do nothing, and let the trees they planted there grow, although that would take years and would never hide the plant from view.
St Helier No 1 Deputy Wickenden says that the department’s attitude is a big let-down to his constituents.
He said: “The officers at TTS need to get together with the Constable and Deputies to go through possible solutions. It is not good enough just to deliver a small list of solutions and how challenging each one will be, it’s clear that if they were capable of finding a solution they would have already done it.”
