Nikki Zachariou, Kerrie Ballard, Jess Stanier and Charlotte Newlands – who make up four-sixths of the Island’s first all woman dance group – are off to Cardiff on 6 April where they’ll perform in front of judges including Diversity dancer Ashley Banjo and former Pussycat Doll Kimberley Wyatt.
The reality talent show dance competition is hosted by Davina McCall and looks for Britain and Ireland’s best dance act who will take home the Got to Dance Champion 2014 crown.
Dancer Nikki Zachariou said four of the six-strong group are now flat-out rehearsing for the competition as well as for their first full-length show at the Royal Yacht on 29 March. She said the Diamond Misfit Show will bring back old school glamour entertainment to Jersey.
The group plan to use material from the show and put it into a choppier piece for their audition a week later when they will perform a commercial street based routine.
Nikki said: “We’ll pick the bits that best represent us, what we want to showcase.
“People like Kimberley and Ashley are so inspirational, to be able to get feedback from them will be amazing.
And Nikki hopes their audition will encourage other local dancers to follow their dreams.
“We are a dance act but we have a message behind it that’s to go for your dreams, believe in yourself, know your worth, do things that scare you because that’s where growth comes from.”
