The Open Source Day, sponsored by E-scape, will take between 10 am and 4 pm. Between 12 pm and 2 pm, Graham Morrison, editor and co-founder of Linux Voice magazine will lead a keynote speech, followed up by software architect Simon Brown.
Exhibitions will feature a mixture of static and interactive stands covering areas such as Gcompris (educational software), OpenDNS Family Shield, Desktop Applications and Alternatives, Portable Apps and Asterisk (telephone system). There will also be a number of workshops held throughout the day.
Matt Chatterley, Founder of Collaborate.je said: “We are aiming to promote evangelism of, and positive attitudes towards, Open Source solutions, which can offer a viable alternative to the standard proprietary systems used by many businesses. It’s our hope that we can also provide a link between Jersey’s Open Source community and business community, encouraging them to work together more closely in the future.”
