If you own a dog older than six months that isn’t a guide dog, you have to submit a dog licence application to the parish that you live in by 31st of January.
The form has to state the age and sex of your dog, and your dog’s microchip ID number if it has one.
The law also states that any dog in a public place must wear a collar with the name and address of the owner on it.
Anyone who doesn’t get their application in on time could be in hot water – the law says it’s an offence to not apply for your licence, but that the Constable of the parish can waive the legal proceedings if you cough up double the licence fee with a late application.
