Police Chief Robin Smith and Chief Inspector Chris Beechey made an unscheduled stop-off at Route de la Haule when a “waddling” (one of several collective noun options) of around 40 ducks headed across the road on their way inland.
The two officers oversaw an orderly procession of the ducks along the eastbound pavement, before the ducks took a left turn and headed away from the road.
Mr Smith posted a video clip on his Twitter account.
‘Herding Ducks’requires teamwork and patience…C/I Beechey and I haven’t done traffic control (La Route de la Haule) for a while! Best bit…all the giggles and comments from motorists. Only in Jersey. pic.twitter.com/kMpe3xv9ra

“Herding ducks requires teamwork and patience,” he said. “C/I Beechey and I haven’t done traffic control for a while!”
The island’s top cop said the best part of the job had been the “giggles and comments” from motorists.
“Only in Jersey!” he added.
