A family-run restaurant has closed its doors after a decade of trading following a “difficult” autumn and winter period.
Drifters first opened in 2016 at Havre des Pas, before moving into the former Jade Garden premises in Gorey Village in 2021.
The restaurant moved to the Weighbridge, next to the Troubadour pub, just last year.
In a post on social media, the owners said: “It is with very deep regret that the directors of Drifters 2024 Limited have to announce that, after a difficult trading environment during the autumn and December periods, we have made the sad but necessary decision to cease trading with immediate effect and place the company into a formal, voluntary creditors winding up process. Grant Thornton are being engaged to assist with this process.
“We can only provide our loyal followers with our heartfelt thanks for your kindness and support during our trading endeavours and to say how dreadfully sorry we are that we cannot be there for you in the future. We wish you all the very best for the new year.”
Several customers expressed regret in the comments.
One said it was “sad news”, adding that Drifters served the “best steak in Jersey by a country mile”.
Another commented: “Thank you for all the fantastic food I have eaten at both of your restaurants and hope the future holds a silver lining for you all.”
One wrote: “So sorry to hear this guys, was always our favourite place to go in Jersey. Wishing you all the very best for your future.”
