If you heard sirens across town this morning, there’s no cause for alarm – the emergency services were taking part in a training exercise to test their response to a terrorist attack.
Jersey’s Fire, Police and Ambulance Services were put through their paces today in a major incident drill known as ‘Exercise Tempest’, staged at Fort Regent.
The operation, which began at around 9am, saw multiple emergency vehicles travel from La Collette to the town centre, creating a response designed to simulate real conditions.
Officials say the exercise aims to test how well the island’s emergency services can work together during a fast-moving, high-pressured scenario, based on a simulated terrorist attack.
Authorities emphasised that the training is part of routine preparedness work and is not linked to any specific threat.
By rehearsing co-ordinated responses in real-world conditions, emergency planners aim to ensure crews can react quickly and effectively should a major incident ever occur.
