James Arthur Baker (39) was facing 32 counts of ‘larceny as a servant’ but the Solicitor General, Matthew Jowitt, told Royal Court the Crown couldn’t offer evidence for 29 of them.
Baker has admitted criminally stealing two mobile phones worth £1,200. He also pleaded guilty to two similar charges in which he sold a phone attached to a customer’s account to someone else.
In addition, he admitted acquiring criminal property in the form of money which he knew, or suspected was, “derived from, or obtained, directly, or indirectly, through criminal conduct.” His guilty plea was submitted on a specific basis which the court accepted.
The trial against Baker, which was due to take place in March 2021, has now been cancelled.
Instead, he will appear before Royal Court on 12 February 2021 for his sentencing.
Baker, who is represented by Advocate Francesca Pinel, has been released on bail in the meantime.
