The Animals’ Shelter team have described Riley as “a very happy chappie” who is always smiling and a “super smart dog” who will bark when excited – especially when he sees his carers.
The nine-year-old German Spitz arrived at the JSPCA after his owner was too elderly to take care of him.
He was then placed with a family, but had to leave as he didn’t enjoy being around young children.
When he first arrived at the JSPCA, Riley couldn’t be adopted due to medical issues – but he is now on medication.

“Riley is full of energy and loves his walks and hanging out and relaxing with his human friends,” the JSPCA team said of him.
“He is very smart and enjoys learning new things.”
The JSPCA are looking for a new family who can give Riley all the cuddles and exercise he needs.

His carers added: “He is a German Spitz, which is a breed that is in the Spitz family, originally used for herding and guarding which they are good at as they are very aware and bark when anything alerts them.”
Who could adopt Riley?
The JSPCA is looking for a new home for Riley, saying that a few people had been interested but had to pull out “for various reasons”.
He can live with children aged 10 or over, but he cannot be rehomed with other animals.
In addition, the charity said Riley is a very active dog who needs one-and-a-half to two hours of exercise every day. His fabulous coat needs daily grooming. He can be left alone for up to four hours.
Prospective owners will need to provide proof of address for the last two months and the landlord’s permission, if they live in a rented home.
