A “self-confessed charity shop addict” who has garnered over 100k followers online with her thrifty advice on bagging a bargain is due to open Jersey Hospice Care’s third second-hand store this weekend.
Jen Brady, known as Charity Shop Girl online, will officially open Hospice Shop East this Saturday 12 April.
She said: “I’m really excited to be returning to Jersey – a place that’s very close to my heart.
“I used to live on the island and my son was born there so we have many fond memories.
“I’ve been following Hospice’s journey in charity retail for a few years now having visited their shop in St Ouen in 2023.
“The addition of this new shop is very exciting, and I can’t wait to see it in person and meet the colleagues, volunteers and of course, the shoppers!”
The shop, which will be based at Holme Grown in Grouville, adds to the charity’s two successful stores in town and St Ouen.
Jersey Hospice Care provides support to islanders with life-limiting illnesses and their families, and relies on fundraising to raise 57% of its £8m annual running costs.
Following the official opening this week, Hospice Shop East will be open seven days a week from 10:00 to 16:00.

Cheri Strudwick, Jersey Hospice Care’s Director of Income Generation and Marketing, said: “The cost of running Hospice increases every year and our shops play a vital role in raising the funds we need to keep delivering outstanding end of life care and support to our patients and their loved ones.
“This recent investment in a third shop was the natural progression for our retail offering, serving those shoppers in the east of the island and providing an additional drop off point for donations.”
Marcus Meadows, Head of Retail for Jersey Hospice Care, added: “We’ve created a unique space at the Hospice Shop East that will really change the perception of what a charity shop looks like.
“Much of the interior has been created from recycled materials, making the project as sustainable as possible and providing the perfect showcase for pre-loved treasures.
“It’s been many months in the making, and I’m incredibly proud and excited to be opening to the public this weekend.
“I would like to take this opportunity to thank publicly the many colleagues, volunteers, and third-party service providers who together have helped us to create something quite special.”
