Guernsey Cricket has said it’s “delighted” to announce the appointment of Blake Carre as its new Development Officer.

Mr Carre, 20, is already experienced in both coaching and representing the island.

He holds an England and Wales Cricket Board Level 2 coaching accreditation, and has played for Guernsey at various age-group levels, including being part of the squad that competed in the International Cricket Council U19 Cricket World Cup.

He has also represented Guernsey on the basketball court, including at the 2023 home Island Games.

“I’m proud to be a product of Guernsey’s cricketing pathway, and I’m committed to continuing my coaching development, supporting young cricketers, and hopefully helping to build the next generation of players,” he said. “We are looking to develop players not only as athletes but as confident and respectful competitors, growing cricket in the community’ and making cricket accessible to all is one of my main objectives. My multi-sport background gives me a well-rounded perspective on athletic development and the importance of mindset, fitness, and tactical awareness – all key components in modern cricket.”

Guernsey Cricket has complete control of all ‘things’ cricket in the Bailiwick, having been formed to oversee the process that saw Guernsey become an Associate Member of the International Cricket Council in 2008.

Guernsey Cricket Chief Operating Officer Richard Headington welcomed the new appointment.

“Blake brings an impressive blend of experience, passion, and ambition to the role. His commitment to the game, combined with his personal experience in international youth cricket, makes him a fantastic addition to the team. His energy and vision will be invaluable as we continue to grow the game at all levels across the island.”

Guernsey competes in the ICC World Cricket League, and in the new world of T20.

At junior level Guernsey is represented at Under 19 in ICC European Division 2. As well as representing at all age levels from U9 up and plays both within the Channel Islands and in the UK.
