Julie Wallman is hoping to take one of five seats for St. Helier Central, where she lives. The newly created district covers much of the Springfield and Rouge Bouillon area.
Born in Jersey, Ms Wallman went on to work in London and Italy in art-related fields.
She is a Director of Green Eye Productions, the company behind Occupation account ‘Living with the Enemy’, and which is currently working on ‘Genuine Fakes’, the story of a renowned art forget whose imitations landed him in jail.
Having returned to Jersey seven years ago, Ms Wallman became a carer for her father alongside her twin sister. She helped launch Carers Jersey in February, calling for more support for family carers to help them find balance.
On why she is standing for election, she said: “I would like to sort out some of the social inequalities in the Island. I see training as a key part of the solution so that everyone gets a chance of a better life. I want to see the social care model work for everyone.”
Jersey Liberal Conservatives (JLC) leader Sir Philip Bailhache commented: “Julie is a very compassionate and genuine person who would give her all for the voters of St Helier Central. She will bring a fresh dimension to the party and to public debate about the way in which we care for elderly and vulnerable residents. I am sure that she will get great support in the district where she lives and to which she is committed.”
The JLC recently announced it would be teaming up with the Progress Party, with both parties pledging to publish a shared manifesto and back a single candidate for Chief Minister: Sir Philip.
Jersey’s election is taking place in June.
