Islanders with ideas on strengthening food resilience, championing local producers or improving health have one more day to apply for a £20,000 prize.
The deadline to apply for the Food System Prize is tomorrow, Saturday 25 October.
It was launched in Jersey this summer by local entrepreneurs India Hamilton and Taylor Smythe, who organise the Regen Gathering Jersey conference.
The prize is open to anyone with an existing business or idea that reimagines how food is grown, distributed or consumed.
Ms Hamilton said: “We’re seeing incredible ideas emerging from Jersey and beyond, from regenerative farming to food tech and social innovation. But we’d love to see even more local applications before the deadline. If you’re interested, we need just 500 words telling us about your idea or business and why you think you should win.”
Ms Smythe added: “Building resilience and diversity into our supply chains is absolutely vital. There’s a huge untapped opportunity to bring imagination and creativity into communities and the farming sector.”
The winner will receive £15,000 in cash and £5,000 in business support, including branding, website design and mentorship. An additional £5,000 is ring-fenced specifically for applicants from the Channel Islands.
The Food System Prize winner will be announced on 6 November 2025 at the Jersey Farming Conference. Application forms can be found at regen-gathering.com, and the deadline is Saturday 25 October.
