Runners and walkers came together last weekend for Miles for Em, a fundraising event held in memory of three-year-old Emily Scarlett.
Organised by The Emily Scarlett Foundation, the event saw participants of all ages and abilities take on 5km, 10km and half-marathon distances, helping to raise awareness and funds for Jersey families affected by disability and complex medical needs.
Miles for Em began as a personal challenge for Emily’s sister, Wendy Freitas, who committed to walking and running 200 kilometres in her memory.
The challenge grew into something much bigger, ultimately inspiring the creation of The Emily Scarlett Foundation, which became a registered Jersey charity this year.
Now an annual event, Miles for Em brings the community together to celebrate Emily’s life and continue her legacy of kindness, inclusion and support.
