A new exhibition reflecting on the lives of islanders deported to a German internment camp during the Occupation has opened.
‘Structures & Memory (A Place Called Wurzach)’ is part of the Liberation 80 programme.
The exhibition at Capital House features works by four local artists – Emily de Gruchy, Shan O’Donnell, Oliver Le Gresley, and Nicole Sheppard – alongside archive material collected by the families of deportees.
The exhibition explores the experiences of Jersey people deported to the southern German town of Wurzach – now Bad Wurzach – during the Second World War.
It runs until Sunday 8 June and is accompanied by a programme of related events – including artist talks, residencies, and performances across St Helier.
The exhibition was launched by the Bailiff earlier this week and was attended by over 100 people, including former internees and their families.
