From 1 June, prices will increase by 1.9% due to the increase in the price of petroleum gas, which has risen by nearly a quarter in the last year alone.

Jersey Gas say that the price increase is well below inflation levels of 5.8% since the last rise four years ago. They added that the average annual bill will also still be up to £47 cheaper per year than in 2014.

Jersey Gas Managing Director, Ian Plenderleith, said that the company had “worked diligently” to keep their tariffs “stable and competitive over the years.”

He added that they were “committed” to helping islanders achieve energy efficiency, and would “continue to work with the local government and our partners to further develop competition and choice in the energy sector across the Channel Islands.”
