He’s organised a street art workshop on Saturday which is being led by street artist Bokra who has run graffiti art lessons and workshops in schools, local housing estates, youth clubs and fundraising events.
Environment Minister Steve Luce said: “Graffiti art isn’t the usual way the States of Jersey carries out a public consultation, but if we are going to reach young people, we need to think imaginatively and do something that will engage and interest them. Anyone, of any age can take part, but I’m especially hopeful that people aged between 11 and 21 will come along, get creative and express their views on the future of St Helier.”
Deputy Luce says their artwork will stay on the hoarding while the new building is being built and will contribute to the thinking on the future regeneration of St Helier.
The regeneration of town is a strategic priority for the Council of Ministers and is being led by the Future St Helier steering group.
Young people are being invited to get arty from 09:30 until 16:30 and can just turn up at Pitt Street, near Charing Cross, on the day.
