Islanders are set to benefit from cheaper parcel prices for the second year as Jersey Post responds to a continued shift away from traditional mail.

Under a new pricing structure coming into effect of Tuesday 6 January 2026, the cost of sending parcels will fall by up to 5% for items weighing less than 2kg, and by 10% for parcels between 2kg and 20kg.

The reductions will apply to parcels sent to the UK, Europe and the rest of the world.

Jersey Post said this move follows a noticeable shift in the demands of islanders and reflects the needs of evolving customer behaviour, with more islanders choosing to send parcels rather than traditional letters.

Since 2021, letter volumes have fallen by 24%, whilst parcel volumes have increased by 8%.

However, desite the reductions in parcel prices, the cost of sending letters will rise in the new year. The price of a standard local letter is set to increase by 2.5% to 82p.

Jersey Post explained that the increase was necessary to help offset the financial impact of declining letter volumes.

Other inflation linked changes include an increase in the price of local large letters, which will rise from £1.20 to £1.25, and local parcels, which will increase from £2.00 to £2.05.

The cost of sending a letter to the UK will also go up by 5p, from £1.35 to £1.40.

Jersey Post chief executive Mark Siviter said: “We’ve thought carefully about our 2026 prices to ensure we prioritise affordability and continue to represent good value for our customers, whilst also considering inflation-based cost of living increases.

“We’ve worked hard over the last couple of years to make our business more sustainable. We’re pleased we’ve been able to further reduce parcel prices following customer feedback, to continue supporting islanders.”

The updated prices will come into force from Tuesday 6 January 2026.
