Islanders are being invited to learn more about local Afro-Caribbean culture in a series of events organised as part of Jersey’s ninth annual celebration of Africa Awareness Week.
Local charity Friends of Africa Jersey is once again bringing a host of educational and entertaining events in the run-up to Africa Day on Sunday 25 May.
Africa Awareness Week aims to promote diversity and inclusion through a number of educational and cultural activities offered to islanders for free.
It is also a chance for Jersey’s African-Caribbean community to join together and share their culture with the island.
A Friends of Africa Jersey spokesperson said: “Live performances, painting workshops and an evening mixer are all on the agenda.
“Join us for a vibrant and inspiring week of events highlighting African and Caribbean culture, heritage, wellness, and community empowerment.
“From school workshops to music, fashion, and our signature gala dinner, there’s something for everyone!”
Express has compiled a list of what to expect…
