The DJ was born in the Island as Paul Walden, but found his success after moving to the US and London, where he started out playing with a band Joshua Cries Wolf, and then got into the burgeoning rave scene.

He was best known for “Infinity” – one of the defining tracks of the early rave era – which came out in 1990, proved a huge hit at the Hacienda, and crossed over to the pop charts to peak at number five.

After years of touring and playing to huge crowds, Josh got into another starting scene – mixing computer graphics with music, and was successful again. He had been living in Ibiza for some time before his death.

The death was confirmed by Guru Josh’s agent – no details have been given about the cause.
