One of Jersey’s top gynaecologists is set to join a panel discussion this evening that aims to raise awareness of a debilitating reproductive condition affecting one in ten women.
Consultant obstetrician and gynaecologist Dr Fiona Nelson will speak at the Jersey Arts Centre on Tuesday 17 June as part of an event organised by Endometriosis Jersey.
Dr Nelson specialises in pelvic pain, menstrual disorders, hormonal issues and reproductive problems.
She will appear on a panel alongside physiotherapist Alexandra Frankham, politician Deputy Lucy Stephenson, women’s health advocate Trudi Roscouet, wellbeing consultant Jessica Pinel, and endometriosis advocate Rebecca Bailey.
Before the panel discussion, attendees will watch a documentary film about endometriosis.
‘Below the Belt’ follows the lives of four women navigating life with the condition.
Campaigner Kate Fry, who founded the Endometriosis Jersey support group and organised tonight’s event, said she was “really happy with the response and the number of tickets sold”.
She added: “Thank you so much to everyone who’s supported this event so far.
“I want to take a moment to encourage everyone, regardless of gender, to get involved in this important awareness campaign and join the conversation.
“Women’s health impacts all of us – and creating space for open, inclusive discussion is key to driving real change.”

Mrs Fry said her own endometriosis diagnosis came after five years of being told her symptoms were “all in her head” – and that she is one of the “lucky ones” compared to others who have waited decades for answers.
She added that Dr Nelson will bring “crucial insight into how we can advocate for ourselves during the often uncomfortable and prolonged diagnostic journey that so many face”.
