Figures released under the Freedom of Information Law show that there are typically around 18 States employees who are suspended each year, and that a typical suspension lasts for just under 50 days.

Since the start of 2012, a total of 3,520 working days have been lost to suspension, at a cost of £467,619.

Of the 74 staff who have been suspended from work since the start of 2012, 19 have been dismissed.

Only the Economic Development department has not had a member of staff suspended during the period.
