HMS Tyne is set to headline a significant Royal Navy presence at this year’s Boat Show, as the popular event returns to St Helier Marina this weekend.
The 80-metre patrol vessel will lead a line-up of naval assets at the Channel Islands’ largest free outdoor event, offering visitors a rare opportunity to step aboard and meet her crew.
Operated as part of the Royal Navy’s efforts to safeguard UK waters, HMS Tyne plays a key role in search and rescue operations, fisheries protection and wider maritime security.
Her visit to Jersey will allow members of the public to gain an insight into daily life at sea and the work carried out by naval personnel.

Jersey harbourmaster Captain William Sadler said the ship’s presence would add to an already strong naval showing.
“We’re proud and excited to welcome HMS Tyne to this year’s show, strengthening an already impressive Royal Navy presence,” he said.
“The Barclays Jersey Boat Show continues to showcase everything that makes our harbour and island special.”
He added that the event offers “a unique opportunity to connect with the maritime community while enjoying a fantastic programme of activity and entertainment both on and off the water”.
Alongside HMS Tyne, visitors can expect to see HMS Express, as well as Viking armoured all-terrain vehicles, a dive tank and a Royal Navy catering facility.

Lieutenant Commander Samuel Fields said the crew were looking forward to engaging with the public during the visit.
“I am delighted that HMS Tyne will be visiting St Helier as the Royal Navy Guardship for this year’s Jersey Boat Show,” he said.
“We look forward to engaging with members of the public and exhibitors, showcasing the ship’s role in protecting the UK’s maritime interests and demonstrating the professionalism of our Royal Navy personnel.”
Tours of HMS Tyne will be free but limited, with visitors encouraged to pre-book due to expected demand.
Beyond the naval presence, organisers have promised a packed programme aimed at all ages, from a large children’s activity zone and food village to live music and high-energy on-water demonstrations.
The show, supported by title sponsor Barclays, typically attracts tens of thousands of visitors each year and celebrates Jersey’s maritime heritage through a mix of boats, entertainment and community events.
