Morgan was found unconscious by a dog walker in a Trinity lane on Sunday 5th July, he was pronounced dead at the General Hospital at 10.19am. Five teenagers were questioned in connection with his death and remain on police bail.
Today’s inquest, presided by Deputy Viscount, Mark Harris, was held to allow Morgan’s family to make funeral arrangements. Giving evidence was Deputy Senior Investigating Officer, Detective Sergeant Paul Ryan and also present was Advocate Mike Preston who is representing one of the boys being questioned, and attending in proxy for the others.
The ‘potential defendants’ – four 16 year olds and one 15 year old – were arrested within hours of Morgan being discovered. All five were arrested on suspicion of murder. They have yet to be charged with any offence and remain on bail until Wednesday 30th September.
The Deputy Viscount confirmed he had received no objections to Morgan’s remains being released for cremation. A Post Mortem examination has taken place by a Home Office registered pathologist and a further HO Pathologist has been engaged for an independent review of the post mortem results in anticipation of people being charged in connection with the death.
The police investigation is ongoing and a final post mortem report cannot be issued until the results of further toxicology analysis and histological investigations are received.
Morgan’s family will now be able to arrange his funeral and the inquest was adjourned pending the further criminal investigation enquiries.
