However, due to lockdown measures, UK-based insurance companies have been unable to print insurance discs and issue them to Jersey residents.
In light of this information from the UK Association of British Insurers, Jersey’s Attorney General, Mark Temple, has issued new guidance to the Honorary Police with immediate effect in relation to usual offences concerning the failure to display an insurance disc.

Islanders who are unable to comply with the law – for example, if their policy was started or renewed during the covid-19 pandemic – will not be charged with an offence provided that they can prove that their vehicle is covered by a current, valid policy of insurance.
Insurers are continuing to provide hard copy insurance certificates and policy documents through the post.
Where motor insurance discs have not been supplied, drivers are instead recommended to carry proof of car insurance when driving.
