Fire fighters arrived just after 09:00 this morning, and lowered a paramedic down to the man using ropes, to assess his injuries – he had hurt his head, back and leg.
They say that because of his condition, they decided to lower him on down to Bonne Nuit, where the Fire Service’s Inshore Rescue boat, and the RNLI were waiting to take him to the slip, and an ambulance could pick him up. The incident is now being investigated by both the Police and Health and Safety officials.
Watch Commander Richard Ryan said “At the height of the incident over 30 emergency personnel were utilised and demonstrated all emergency services working together to achieve the best possible outcome. He would also like to remind people when working at height at home or in the workplace to insure it is safe to do so by utilizing safety rails or work restraint harnesses.”
