Senator Ian Gorst and Deputy Kevin Lewis will be representing the Island at the 22nd Summit meeting – a forum for members to exchange ideas of mutual interest.
Jersey is one of eight member administrations that include the UK, Irish, Scottish, and Welsh governments, Northern Ireland Executive, Channel Islands and the Isle of Man.
The Council will also be looking at what is being done across the 12 British-Irish Council work sectors.
The meeting will be chaired by Guernsey’s Chief Minister Jonathan Le Tocq.
Members take it in turns to host the meetings and it’s the third time it has been held in Guernsey. The last summit was held in Jersey in November last year where the focus was on youth employment and plans for the newly established creative industries work sector.
Delegates for the council include Irish Taoiseach Enda Kenny, UK Deputy Prime Minister Nick Clegg, the Scottish Cabinet Secretary for Culture and External Affairs Fiona Hyslop, the Welsh Minister for Economy, Science and Transport Edwina Hart, the Northern Irish First Minister Peter Robinson and deputy First Minister Martin McGuinness and Isle of Man chief minister Allan Bell.
