A Jersey Hospice Care practitioner has been awarded the title of Queen’s Nurse in recognition of her commitment to high standards of community care.
Gail Edwards, Community Education Practitioner at Jersey Hospice Care, was awarded the title by The Queen’s Institute of Community Nursing.
The accolade recognises nurses who demonstrate a commitment to high standards of patient care, learning and leadership.
Ms Edwards said she was “absolutely thrilled and honoured” to receive the title.
She added: “It is a wonderful recognition of my passion and commitment to deliver quality palliative and end-of-life care throughout the island.
“Apart from feeling extremely proud, I am hugely inspired to continue sharing knowledge and ensuring that all community colleagues, regardless of where they work, have access to this education.
“The positive impact that good care has on patients, families, and friends is immeasurable.”
Queen’s Institute of Community Nursing chief executive Steph Lawrence said: “On behalf of the Queen’s Institute of Community Nursing, I would like to congratulate Gail Edwards and welcome her as a Queen’s Nurse.
“Queen’s Nurses serve as leaders and role models in community nursing, delivering high quality health care across the country.
“The application and assessment process to become a Queen’s Nurse is rigorous and requires clear commitment to improving care for patients, their families and carers.
“We look forward to working with Gail and all other new Queen’s Nurses who have received the title this year.”
