Jersey parkrun marked its 10th birthday at the weekend, with over 400 people completing the five-kilometre course and enjoying some celebratory cake.

Since 2015, islanders have turned up to Les Quennevais sports centre every Saturday morning at 09:00 to run, walk or jog around the track.

The free community event, run by volunteers, aims to encourage islanders of all abilities to get involved in regular physical activity.

Jersey parkrun’s 10th birthday celebrations, which took place on Saturday 27 September, were attended by 432 people.

Participants were greeted at the finish line with a selection of cakes to mark the special occasion.

In a post on social media post, volunteers confirmed that 75 of those who attended the 10th birthday session were first-timers, and 46 people achieved a new personal best.

Runner and groom-to-be Rahul Kini received a special mention after he ran alongside his groomsmen as part of their wedding preparations.

Other parkrunners took to social media to share their thanks for the community event.

Daniel Andrade said: “Thanks so much to all the volunteers for your great work every week! Great event and love coming.”

Jennifer Stafford added: “Happy 10th birthday. Thanks to all the run directors and volunteers who turn up every Saturday.”
