Celebrating her success, Britta Houiellebecq of Britta Marie Photography said that she hopes the island can develop further as a wedding destination.

Britta was named as a regional finalist in the Wedding Industry Awards. The same week, Weddings & Honeymoons Magazine included Britta in a list of top 20 UK wedding photographers.

“What a week it’s been!” said Britta. “The wedding photography industry is bursting with talent, so I’m honoured to get this recognition.”

Britta said the number of couples coming to the island to walk down the aisle has doubled recently, according to her own bookings – with couples coming mainly from the UK, but also as far afield as the Netherlands and Russia.

“It seems to be the 35-to-45-year-olds who get married here because they came here on holiday,” she explained.

“I had one from Russia and one from the Netherlands. They just saw it online and thought: ‘That’s really nice and not too far away.'”

Britta said that much of her marketing is aimed at couples off-island who can make Jersey their wedding destination.

“I’m super proud to be representing Jersey in both these achievements while highlighting Jersey’s potential as a thriving wedding destination.”

She added that there was “an untapped market” for weddings in Jersey.

“That’s set to continue next year based on my bookings for 2024,” said Britta.
