A trio of world premiere dance pieces inspired by Jersey’s witch trials is set to be performed next month at one of the island’s oldest historic sites.

Ballet d’Jerri will perform ‘The Witches’ at La Hougue Bie from 5 to 15 June.

The triple-bill performance brings together work from choreographers Katya Bourvis, Vidya Patel, and Cecilia Lisa Eliceche inspired by Jersey’s historical witch trials.

The dances explore themes of fear, resilience, and the dangerous echoes of history – with artistic consultation provided by Jersey’s own Dr Adam Perchard.

All performances – except the opening night – will be priced using a ‘pay what you can’ model.

Carolyn Rose Ramsay, Founding Artistic Director of Ballet d’Jerri, explained that “access should never be the barrier” to art.

“We know people in Jersey will help each other if they can.” she said.

“If you’re in a position to pay it forward for someone else to see the show, your generosity makes it possible for us to offer someone else a subsidised ticket.

“And if you need a little help yourself, take it without guilt.

“We are your national ballet – we belong to you.”

The Witches premiere performance will take place on 5 June at La Hougue Bie, featuring a champagne reception and the opportunity to meet the performers and creative team behind the show.

Tickets are £100 per person for the opening evening only.
