Lucy Stephenson is currently on maternity leave from her role as assistant editor at the Jersey Evening Post.
The thirty-five-year-old is standing as an independent candidate, and says she passionately believes in the need for greater diversity within Jersey’s political system, not just in terms of gender but also age, background, experience and place of birth.
“For years I have called for more women to stand for election, for different groups to stand up for what they believe in, for people my age to engage with local politics and for greater diversity in thought and approach in our decision-making processes – now it’s time for me to try to be a part of the solution, not just talk about it,” she said.
The general election is on the 22nd June.
