A professional who started working in JT’s call centre around two decades ago has been appointed as the telecoms company’s new Chief People Officer.
Having joined JT as a Customer Service Representative in 2005, Laura Belo moved into Human Resources as an HR Advisor two years later before progressing through increasingly senior leadership roles.
In her new position, Laura – Chartered Fellow of the Chartered Institute of Personnel and Development (CIPD) and a Fellow of the Institute of Leadership – will be responsible for leading JT’s people strategy, culture, and talent development, with a focus on ensuring the company continues to attract and retain the skills needed for its future.
Ms Belo said she was “incredibly proud” to take on the role.
“Having started in the Call Centre more than 20 years ago, I understand first-hand the importance of creating an environment where people can grow, develop and achieve their ambitions,” she continued.
“JT has a strong culture built around its people, and I am passionate about continuing to strengthen that culture while supporting our colleagues to thrive. I look forward to working with teams across the organisation as we continue to develop our talent, support our communities and deliver for our customers.”
Andy Green CBE, Chair of JT, described Ms Belo’s appointment as a “fantastic example of the opportunities that exist within JT for talented individuals to build long and rewarding careers”.
“From starting in our Call Centre to joining the Executive Leadership Team as Chief People Officer, Laura’s journey demonstrates what can be achieved through hard work, commitment and a passion for people,” he added.
“Over the years, Laura has made an outstanding contribution to JT, helping to shape a culture where our people can thrive and ensuring we continue to invest in their development. I am delighted to welcome her to the executive team and look forward to seeing the positive impact of her leadership in the years ahead.”
