The youngsters from St John’s School Nursery and a few older ones set off around the parish lanes with their teachers and their families on a special Christmas lantern parade.

The class of three and four year-olds has spent the last few weeks fashioning their own very special white lanterns ready for the big parade and for their Nursery nativity.

Their teacher Hilary Jones said: “As part of a project this term the Nursery children all created their very own lanterns. The children made the lanterns by twisting willow and adding sheets of white tissue paper, we then added a torch for a magical glow.

“Initially we made the lanterns for our Christmas Production ‘Shine’ which we performed in the Parish Church, but then we decided that it would be a nice idea to test out the lanterns for real! The children all really enjoyed walking in procession around the village in the dark, it made quite a spectacle!  It was lovely to walk around to see the residents at Maison Le Vesconte and sing our Christmas songs for them too,  hopefully we brought them a little joy at this special time of year.”
