Alexander Daniel Cullen (29) has been charged with importing the drugs and is due to appear before the Magistrate’s Court this morning.

In a statement released this morning, Customs and Immigration said that the drugs were seized from a vehicle that arrived in Jersey on the Condor Liberation from Poole on Saturday 7 September.

Tests are now being run on the drugs, with Customs stating that they believe the haul to be heroin.

If it is, they say the Class A consignment could have a street value in Jersey of up to £10million – equivalent to five times the overall value of drugs seized in 2018.

Anyone with further information about suspected drug smuggling can make a report via the Customs Freephone 0800 735 5555 and speak to an Officer “in complete confidence.”
