Matthew Jones, owner of The Moorings Hotel, presents a cheque for £1,738 to RNLI Jersey representative Jonathan Jones at The Moorings Hotel, celebrating a year of fundraising through Maddie’s Santa Caterina pizza initiative.

A local hotel’s year-long fundraising initiative has successfully raised over £1,700 for a sea rescue charity.

The Moorings Hotel has been donating £1 from every Santa Caterina pizza sold to support the lifesaving work of RNLI Jersey.

A total of £1,738 has been raised for the charity over the past year.

The Moorings’ owner, Matthew Jones, has a personal connection to the cause, with his brother Jonathan having served many years as a helmsman at St Catherine Lifeboat Station.

Mr Jones said: “This total is more than just a number, it’s a way of honouring the bravery and commitment of Jonathan and all the RNLI volunteers who protect our island.

“We’re deeply grateful to every customer who ordered a Santa Caterina pizza and helped us make this possible.”

The donation will contribute to lifesaving services along the island’s coast, operating lifeboats, and the provision of safety education to prevent loss of life at sea.
