Islanders looking for love but tired of dating apps now have a new opportunity to meet their match thanks to a ‘singles night’ launched by a local restaurant and cocktail bar.
The new event will be held on the last Thursday of each month at Banjo’s bar on Beresford Street.
It aims to allow single islanders to meet naturally and without the pressures and pitfalls of online dating – in what organisers describe as a “relaxed and elegant setting”.
Guests who wish to mingle and meet new other singles can signal their interest by ordering any drink “with Cupid on the side”.
Their chosen beverage will be served with a “special heart” – indicating to others that they are open to conversation and new connections.
Maddy Jouanny, Customer Experience & Marketing Manager at JP Restaurants, explained the idea behind the event.
“We wanted to create a space where people can meet in a natural, relaxed way without the pressure of dating apps or forced setups,” she said.
“So many singles are sick of swiping on apps, but in today’s culture, it can be difficult to meet new people organically.
“At Banjo, we’re all about bringing people together over good drinks and
great conversation, and what better way to do that than with a cocktail and a little help from Cupid?”
The first singles night begins at 18:00 on Thursday 27 February and requires no reservation.
The restaurant and bar will remain open as usual to all customers not participating in the event.
