A man has been convicted of domestic abuse after changing his plea partway through a Royal Court trial.
Paul Kevin Powell (38) pleaded guilty to one count of domestic abuse, which encompassed multiple incidents.
Having initially denied the charge, Powell changed his plea on the second day of the trial, after reaching an agreed basis of plea with the prosecution.
He admitted that he had hit the woman in back of head, elbowed her and pushed her into a road.
However, allegations that he had put his hands around the woman’s neck, slapped her in the face, and punched her in the stomach were not taken forward.
He has since been released on bail and will next appear in the Royal Court for sentencing on 28 May.
