A man has been arrested in connection with alleged malicious damage caused to JT’s mobile phone network sites that left areas of the island without service.

Police said the 44-year-old was apprehended at 09:50 this morning in St Mary.

Islanders are being urged to stay away from all mobile phone sites due to the “extensive damage”.

The alleged vandalism occurred at five mobile phone network sites across St John and St Ouen between 18:30 on Wednesday 2 July and 22:00 on Thursday 3 July, according to police.

JT customers in St Ouen, St Mary, and St John experienced mobile service issues as a result.

Visible police presence and additional security measures were implemented at phone mast sites following the initial incident.

Police issued reassurance that, while this may result in some disruption to mobile phone services, the 999 emergency services telephone number remains fully operational.

Islanders are also advised to use landline phones, which are unaffected.

Anyone with information regarding the damage or who has observed suspicious activity near mobile phone mast sites during the past two days is requested to contact the police on 612612.

Islanders with support or technical queries are asked to contact JT directly.
